How to break up with toxic thought loops

By Re'naijah Purvis

There are moments in our lives where our own mind can become our greatest enemy. Feeding us information that we know is not true coming from some anonymous place, often known as our subconscious mind. It creeps up on us, like a thief in the night hastily stealing our light and our joy. Once it gets to a point where the thoughts are frequent and repetitive, we have to make one of two choices: live with it and let it tear us apart or take our control back consciously and thrive from it.

Toxic thought loops.

How do you break up with them?

You break up with toxic thought loops by consciously doing the reverse, committing to positive thought loops. Yes, I know what you are thinking. Developing positive thought loops, easier said than done. I'd like to tell you though, that it is more common and curable than you think.

Have you ever stopped to look around and really consider, how many people just like you are battling their low self esteem, and lack of confidence? Psychological literature and studies say that 85% of people experience low self-esteem or diminished confidence worldwide on a daily basis. Particularly acute to young people around the age of 17 and women, nevertheless many people you know of, and pass by daily experience what you experience.

The first step to building positive thought loops is to start working on the way you perceive yourself and fixate less on what others think of you. I provide you with this statistic to make you aware that many people are not thinking of you or about you the way you think, because they are busy in their own heads dealing with what you are with themselves. So you can relieve yourself of that pressure right now. Ultimately, you can't break toxic thought patterns without believing in yourself that you can do so, or at least make an attempt.

Positive thought loops requires concentration and a good amount of it, but with consistent and persistent efforts, it can be done. Believing that you can and you will, makes this process lighter.

There can be no darkness where there is light. Balance is life with the lightness and the darkness, but harmony is your ability to manage both without self destructing or worse -- self sabotage.

If you form the habit of positive thought loops, the negative thought loops must disappear. Though not permanently, they will lessen.

You can maintain a healthy state of mind through gratitude.

Gratitude is the quickest and most efficient way to start those positive thought loops because it puts you on the same frequency of love, which is the strongest emotion there is. Gratitude reminds you of how far you've come, how fortunate you are, and how there is much more where that comes from. Gratitude is a frequency, and a state of being that reminds you of the light through the dark, the gold at the end of the rainbow, and the magic at the end of the tunnel.

We can express our gratitude through self-affirmations or mantras:

" I am light, love, peace and joy embodied"

" I am a starseed, magically and divinely attuned to my highest frequency"

"I am grateful for all that I have attained this far in my lifetime"

" I am grateful for the protection and guidance that I can see, and that in which I cannot"

" I am grateful for everyone I know, and everything I have"

Mantras and Affirmations can be anything that you feel in your heart that you must remind yourself daily. I encourage you to write down 5 mantras (or steal mine) that connect you to your higher consciousness and change those chemicals in your brain that fight against you, so your mind can start working with you.

Remember, don't just BE grateful, FEEL grateful. You have the power to choose what thoughts you entertain.

Remember to remember, and remember to be grateful.
