Unlocking Purpose Through Self-Inventory
By Numani Nation
Here’s some food for thought, Numani Nation:
You’ve been placed here for a reason.
That reason is already within you. Your job isn’t to find it out in the world—it’s to unlock the parts of yourself that will give you the insight needed to fully see your mission and purpose.
So… how do we do that?
Believe it or not, it’s much simpler than you think. And no—you don’t have to go through extreme, life-altering situations every single time to come closer to your purpose. Struggle and pain do play a role at times, especially when the universe needs to shake things up for a major shift. But the truth is:
Clarity begins with intention.
What I’ve learned is that by simply placing intentional focus on SELF, you start bringing in the clarity you’re looking for. When you turn inward, take full inventory of who you are vs. who you want to become, and make an honest agreement with yourself to grow through your triggers and trauma, you activate your inner compass.
The more you observe and listen to your inner voice, the stronger that compass becomes—and it will guide you closer to your mission and purpose.
🧭 Lesson #1: How to Take Inventory on SELF
Here’s a step-by-step guide to start this practice today:
Step 1: Define Your Current SELF
Think about who you are right now and how you would define yourself. Write it down. Then, beneath your definition, write a one-sentence affirmation or visualization about who you’re becoming.
Example:
“I am someone who is growing more disciplined and aligned each day.”
Step 2: The Seven Pillars of Wellness
Write these seven pillars down with space in between each (skip a line or two):
- Physical
- Emotional/Mental
- Intellectual
- Social
- Spiritual
- Environmental
- Nutritional
Step 3: Reflect Honestly on Each Pillar
Take time to evaluate where you currently stand in each area. Be real with yourself. Here’s how to think about it:
- Under Physical, ask: How much movement do I get daily? How is my sleep? Do I spend time outside?
- Under Emotional/Mental, ask: What’s my stress level? What’s affecting my mood?
- Do this for all seven pillars. You can write a sentence or several—whatever feels honest and helpful.
Step 4: Visualize Your Future SELF
Now think: Who am I becoming?
Describe your ideal self in detail. What do they do every day, every week, every month? How do they feel doing it? What rewards do they receive for their commitment? And—equally important—what do they have to exchange or “give up” in order to live that life?
Example:
“I want to become a 5am gym-goer. She wakes up at 4am, completes her rising routine, drinks her protein shake, and heads to the gym by 4:45am. She trains from 5–7am. To make this happen, she sacrifices late nights and chooses to sleep by 10pm. This exchange is worth it, because she feels energized, proud, and aligned with her health goals.”
Step 5: Create Your Affirmative Identity Statement
Now, write a 9-sentence paragraph about who you are becoming using the seven pillars:
- Start with one introductory sentence about your transformation.
- Write one sentence per pillar describing how your future self shows up in that area.
- End with a closing sentence that brings it all together.
Read this paragraph out loud every day for the next 30 days.
Let it anchor you.
🌱 Final Thoughts:
Watch how this small but powerful shift transforms your life.
You’re not waiting for clarity anymore—you’re becoming it.
